SSERP Rehabilitation Projects include all work on gravity sewers and manholes. The gravity sewer is generally constructed in public rights of way or utility easements. The gravity system is a network of pipes that allows wastewater from homes and businesses to flow downstream to a network of pumping stations. The pump stations then send the wastewater to a wastewater treatment facility. At each change in the pipe's direction or every 300 feet or so, there is a manhole, allowing the pipe to change direction and for system maintenance.
